7-Day Bali Itinerary for First-Time Visitors
See a realistic 7-day Bali itinerary through Seminyak, Uluwatu, Ubud, Nusa Penida, and Tanah Lot with balanced pacing for a first trip.
Day 1: Seminyak, Bali
Arrive in Bali, check in around Seminyak, and keep the first day easy with the beach and a relaxed sunset dinner.
- 1:00 PM — Arrival at Ngurah Rai International Airport and transfer to Seminyak.
- 2:00 PM — Airport transfer to Seminyak: Ngurah Rai International Airport → Seminyak. A short hotel transfer keeps the first day simple after arrival.
- 3:00 PM — Stay at Amadea Resort & Villas Seminyak. Comfortable base close to Seminyak dining and beach access.
- 5:00 PM — Seminyak Beach: A broad west-coast beach known for sunset views, surf, and easy first-day atmosphere. A natural arrival-day stop because it needs no advance booking and works well near sunset.
- 7:30 PM — Eat at La Plancha Bali. Casual beachfront first-night dinner with a classic Bali sunset setting.
Day 2: South Bali
Use a full day in south Bali for cliffs, temple views, and one of the islands most famous sunset performances.
- 1:30 PM — Seminyak to Uluwatu area: Seminyak → Uluwatu. A driver is the easiest way to handle south Bali traffic and cliffside stops.
- 3:00 PM — Uluwatu Temple: A dramatic clifftop sea temple on the Bukit Peninsula and one of Balis signature sunset sites. Best visited later in the day when the coast and sunset setting are part of the experience.
- 6:00 PM — Kecak fire dance at Uluwatu (Uluwatu Temple amphitheater) This is the classic reason to schedule Uluwatu in the late afternoon and evening.
- 8:00 PM — Eat at Menega Cafe Jimbaran. A practical seafood dinner stop on the way back from the Uluwatu area.
Day 3: Ubud, Bali
Move inland to Ubud and spend the arrival day on walkable cultural stops instead of a long sightseeing loop.
- 9:30 AM — Seminyak to Ubud: Seminyak → Ubud. A morning move leaves enough time to enjoy Ubud without rushing.
- 11:15 AM — Stay at Alaya Resort Ubud. Well-located base for central Ubud and nearby walks.
- 2:00 PM — Ubud Monkey Forest: Sacred forest sanctuary with temple ruins, giant trees, and long-tailed macaques. An easy first Ubud stop because it is central and works well for a half-day visit.
- 6:00 PM — Ubud Palace and market area evening walk (Central Ubud) Keeps the day compact and walkable after the hotel transfer.
- 8:00 PM — Eat at Hujan Locale. Good central Ubud dinner option after an evening in town.
Day 4: Ubud and Gianyar
Use a full central-Bali day for rice terraces, temple scenery, and a cultural experience rather than trying to cover too many far-apart waterfalls.
- 8:30 AM — Tegallalang Rice Terrace: One of Balis best-known rice terrace landscapes just north of Ubud. Go early for cooler temperatures and a calmer visit before larger day-trip crowds.
- 11:30 AM — Tirta Empul Temple: Important Balinese water temple known for its purification pools and religious significance. This pairs well with Tegallalang because both are practical from Ubud in one day.
- 4:30 PM — Balinese cooking class in the late afternoon (Ubud area cooking school) A good cultural activity that feels more rewarding than adding another rushed temple stop.
Day 5: Nusa Penida day trip
Take a realistic Nusa Penida day trip focused on one headline viewpoint and boat logistics rather than trying to see the whole island.
- 6:30 AM — Ubud to Sanur harbor and speedboat to Nusa Penida: Ubud → Nusa Penida. An early start is normal for Bali island day trips because of harbor transfer time.
- 11:00 AM — Kelingking Beach viewpoint: The most famous cliff viewpoint on Nusa Penida, known for its dramatic headland and turquoise water. Treat this as the main stop of the day rather than trying to overpack the route.
- 1:30 PM — Snorkeling stop or west-coast scenic circuit (Nusa Penida) Most organized day tours combine one famous viewpoint with one or two additional stops.
- 7:30 PM — Return to Ubud in the evening after the boat back to Sanur.
Day 6: West Bali coast
Use the final full day to leave Ubud slowly, then finish with one classic west-coast sunset temple before your last night near the beach.
- 10:00 AM — Morning spa or free time in Ubud (Ubud) A lighter morning balances the early departure from the Nusa Penida day trip.
- 1:00 PM — Ubud to Tanah Lot and Seminyak: Ubud → Tanah Lot area. This works well as a transfer day because Tanah Lot is on the way back toward the coast.
- 5:30 PM — Tanah Lot: One of Balis most photographed offshore temples, best known for sunset views from the surrounding coast. A classic final-night stop before returning to the beach area.
- 8:00 PM — Stay at Potato Head Suites & Studios. Beachside final-night stay in Seminyak for an easy departure next day.
Day 7: Seminyak, Bali
Keep departure day simple with a short transfer back to the airport from the Seminyak area.
- 8:30 AM — Breakfast, check-out, and a short final walk if time allows.
- 10:30 AM — Transfer to Ngurah Rai International Airport: Seminyak → Ngurah Rai International Airport. Leave some buffer time because south Bali traffic can vary a lot.
- 1:30 PM — Departure from Bali.
